The main scavenging methods are
- Cross scavenging,
- Loop scavenging and
- Uniflow scavenging.
The gas exchange process in two-stroke engines can be characterized with a number of parameters including delivery ratio, scavenge ratio, scavenge efficiency, purity of charge and trapping efficiency.
